Translations and Accidents

Here is more evidence that I haven't started an official journal for Brooklyn but there are things I want to remember. First, a story. Last night after she brushed her teeth I asked Matt to give her some water from the sippy cup that was on the other side of the bed. He had been tickling her so she was laying down on our bed when he went to give her the water. At first, she wouldn't drink because she was still giggling (dads are so fun aren't they?) so he gave the cup a little squeeze to get some water going. But for those of you who know sippy cups, you know if they are soft enough to squeeze, they are soft enough to allow the lids to pop off, spilling water all over the baby and the bed (my side of the bed of course!). It was pretty funny - well Brooklyn didn't think so. Not until Dad started popping the lid off the now empty sippy cup all over the room. I wish we had gotten a recording. She has the cutest giggle!

Another cute thing is the way she talks. She says alot, most of which is pretty clear, much of which takes at least a little deciphering (as explained below) and some that just doesn't make any sense.

Brooklyn's words Translation
sah-pah-ge-tee spaghetti
sah-bah-dee strawberry
beers bears (really - we're not raising an alcoholic)
ee-bug ladybug
ah-ah-one another one
kapitch (like cabbage) ketchup
oo-vee movie (with prompting, mm-pause-oo-vee)
kih-yoo carry you (which usually means she wants Mom to carry her but can mean she wants to carry one of her dolls or bears or something)

Some other favorites that are pretty clear are "see you," "I love you," "I want some ... (usually milk)," "Hand," and the names of her family members (Mom, Dad, Brooklyn, Grammy, Grandpa, Kevin, Alice (a-iss), Lucie (oo-cee), Nana, etc.) and friends (Jane!, Mikey, Jacob, Samantha).

Speaking of family members, we usually pray for many of them at night and though she will sometimes say family prayers, I usually voice her night time prayers. When she hears a name she know though she will nod and sometimes whisper "yeah." So even if she's not saying it, she desires the Lord's blessings for you too. :)

Brooklyn is too cute. I think that Jacob misses his friends in AZ. He has made a few new friends out here. We miss being in AZ, but the weather has been great here; a little humid, but still pretty nice. It's so funny to here people say...It's so hot when it is in the low 90s. Glad to here you guys are doing good. How is the pregnancy? When are you due?
