I know I missed a week but I am not giving up. I will blog! And I will try to include a family picture every week. Below is the only picture we have this week with the whole family in it. Yes, Matt's big toe is there. TaDa!
These were taken during our little educational art project this week - mixing colors. I got the idea from a friend to dye ice cubes with the primary colors, mix them, then as they melt you see what colors they make. I don't think Brooklyn (or Benson) got it but we had fun!
In the past two weeks our life has changed quite a bit because Student Doctor Matthew Ball has officially begun rotations. He is with a general surgeon who has an office and work at 2 different hospitals. It has been exciting for him to really be in the field and he has seen some neat stuff (which for the sake of privacy laws and your stomachs I will leave out of the blog ...). Though this hasn't struck him as the career of his dreams he is enjoying himself.
I have been trying to get myself and th kids back into a regular routine now that Dad is back to a routine. I have also taken on another piano student (this makes 3) and am gearing up for a condensed trial run of "piano camp."
Finally, the end of the week culminated in an awesome little road trip to Nana and Boppa's house (my parents) so i could see my mom playing the lead in her community play "A Bad Year for Tomatoes." It was very funny and my mom did not disappoint. She's still got it! Besides doing a fantastic job, I am also just so proud of her for trying something new (and a little scary), especially since its something she loves but has been away from for so long. Go Mom! It really was inspiring.
It also was an excuse for a great little vacation. The best part - my mother-in-law agreed to come with me so for three days I had two grandma's to dote on my kids! Talk about a vacation for me! Even my dad took a turn babysitting (which included putting both kids to bed). It was really awesome. I really feel so blessed to have such awesome parents and in-laws.
I'm afraid I can't keep up with all the cute things my kids do. Here are a few notes I wrote down (the others are lost in my memory - perhaps they will surface someday and I will share them).
First thing Brooklyn said to me the other morning: I'm hungry. I want macaroni and cheese.
I hope that Benson is as fascinated with cleaning the floors in the future as he is now. The broom and the vacuum are some of his favorite big kid toys.
Benson's top four teeth have come in right to left (not middle to outer). And they are crooked. The two most right are the farthest in so when he smiles that is all you can really see. It makes his smile look crooked too. He's still cute though!
My favorite thing Brooklyn's dolls "said" to each other this week: "You can't hit your brother." Wonder where she's been hearing that (over and over and over again).
Oh yeah! Benson hit another milestone - waving!!! I think it started out as an experiment with his fingers but I encouraged it into a greeting and it is super cute! This picture doesn't do it justice but of course he wouldn't do it for the video camera.
