New Goal - Week 1

My new goal is to post weekly. I think looking at pictures, reviewing happy events of the week, etc. are nice, restful Sabbath activities. After all, didn't God look back when He was done with His work and say "It is good." That's something that I think is a great part of the Sabbath. So...here goes.

The week started with a baby blessing and some great time with extended family. Hearing the blessing for my new niece and listening to the testimonies we were reminded of the great potential we all have. I think it is more apparent when we are new, like this baby, but through the power of the Atonement we can all be everything God wants us to be. "With God, all things are possible." - Matt. 19:26

We spent Independence Day with Matt's family. My family joined for swimming and a barbeque. As always, Brooklyn had a great time with her cousins. I think I'm still a little mad at them for moving away. We will miss them a lot.

Other than a baby blessing and a holiday, this week was worth noting because its the last week of freedom Matt has before rotations (starting tomorrow!!!). It was wonderful. We got so many good little projects done (family pictures) and had some fun relaxing times(dessert at Claim Jumper). I think my favorite part was just getting to talk about so much more - things that we go without talking about for lack of time (like money/budget). It was wonderful.

Some highlights/updates on our kids. Benson ... is cute. He is getting more expressive (even loud at times), more determined to play (and therefore more annoyed when big sister dictates play, e.g. "I want this toy. Here you can have ..."), and growing (either that or he has a parasite because he always seems hungry and he eats a lot). I think he may be teething too but between 4 months until they have their 1st 16 teeth I think any fussing can be blamed on teething.

I have way cute kids. There's just nothing else to it.
Brooklyn is way into doing tricks (anyone know where she picked that up?). It goes something like this "Watch this trick Mom (or Dad - whoever is willing)." She will then proceed to jump or walk or just fall over with some small variation. Sometimes it is just standing a funny way. This is repeated about a bajillion times in 10 minutes without any tiring on her part. I confess I get tired saying "Wow. Cool jump." Or "You fell over. That's pretty silly!"
Brooklyn is also very affectionate. She can't seem to get enough snuggles, kisses, hugs, or back rubs. Especially when she should be in bed ...

And maybe its just the teething (the year long teething I mentioned earlier) or maybe its still just part of discovering the world but Benson can't seem to stop putting things in his mouth.

It is good. :)
