Sometimes I think of my family as my job. I have chosen to be a stay-at-home mom so I should take it seriously and work hard to raise my family well. But as we sang "Families Can Be Together Forever" in church today I was taught a better way to view my family. The song says:
I have a family here on Earth. They are so good to me.
I want to share my life with them through all eternity.
Families can be together forever through Heavenly Father's plan.
I always want to be with my own family. And the Lord has shown me how I can. (Thank You for that.)
I also learned something about teaching my kids the gospel. I think I often try to think of gospel principles as I would teach them to someone who is unreligious or in opposition of my beliefs. My kids aren't like that! I don't have to defend the gospel to my kids. They probably know truth better than I do and as I remind them of those truths, they will recognize them - not pull out atheist or anti-mormon literature against me.
So grateful I went to church today.
Happy Father's Day!
